Chris Rauth (2-1) suffered his first playoff loss, allowing four earned runs on seven hits in eight innings. He struck out eight and walked three.

Andy Steeds scored Hamiltons first run in the opening inning on an RBI-groundout by Sean Reilly. In the second Jerod Haase reached on an error and wound up scoring on a wild pitch. The Cardinals added two insurance runs in the eighth on RBI-singles by R.J. Lambert and Brandon Schmidt.
