Toronto Maple Leafs 10, Waterloo Tigers 7
In Toronto, Damon Topolie and Mike Grieve homered to power the Maple Leafs to a 10-7 win over the Waterloo Tigers at Christie Pits on Wednesday.
Starter Rob Patterson (1-0) allowed four runs and five hits while striking out four batters in 6 2/3 innings and Mark Eccleton made the final three outs for the save.
Carl Embro had three hits, drove in three runs and scored three times for the Maple Leafs, who are undefeated in six games to start the 2003 season.
Pat Hill (0-1) worked the complete game for Waterloo, giving up 10 runs, three unearned, and 11 hits with five strikeouts and four walks.
Matt Moir had a pair of hits and drove in three runs for the Tigers.

Hamilton Cardinals 7, St. Thomas Storm 2
At Hamilton, RJ Lambert drove in the winning run and Jayson Pilkington pitched seven strong innings to back the Cardinals to a 7-2 win over the St. Thomas Storm.
Pilkington (1-0) allowed one run and four hits while striking out nine batters before being ejected in the eighth inning after hitting his second batter of the night.
Tommy Robertson had a double in the fifth inning that led to the winning run and Shane Ridley added a two-run triple in the seventh inning.
Kyle Stark (0-2) struck out 10 batters and gave up five runs on one hit and six walks before he was tossed with no outs in the seventh inning.
Adam and Eric Seger each had a pair of hits for St. Thomas, who are winless in six games to start the season.
