Dodgers Make Two Off-Field SigningsThe Oshawa Dodgers are pleased to announce the signing of 2 very valuable people to the Dodgers family.
Public Address Announcer: Brett Upton.
Official Scorer/Game Day Stats: Neil Luxton.
Since October 1998 Brett has been the public address announcer for the Durham College Varsity Athletics. During his tenure at Durham College Brett has worked the following events:
� Numerous Durham College Varsity League, Tournament and Playoff Games in baseball, basketball, fastball, soccer and volleyball
� 1999 OCAA Men's Basketball All-Star Game
� 1999 OCAA Women's Basketball Final Four Championships
� 1999 CCAA Men's and Women's Soccer National Championships
� 2000 OCAA Women's Volleyball Championships
� 2002 OCAA Men's and Women's Basketball All-Star Games
� 2002 OCAA Women's Basketball Final Four Championships
Brett will be working his fourth full season at Durham College in the fall, where he will work the 2002 OCAA Women's Fastball Championships and the 2003 CCAA Men's Volleyball National Championships.
Brett is a graduate of Durham College, where he obtained a diploma in Business Administration - Information Systems. He is working for Minacs Worldwide, effective May 2, where he will be a Customer Service Representative for OnStar. Currently, Brett reside in Whitby.
Durham College Athletic Director Ken Babcock had this to say when contacted about the hiring: " Brett does a very professional job and will get the crowd going" " he is a great choice."
Neil is a native of Bowmanville and currently reside in Scarborough. He has been employed by Canada Customs and Revenue Agency since 1994.
Neil graduated from the Sports Administration program at Durham College in 1990.
Some of the things Neil has been involved with:
Equipment Manager for Toronto Blizzard of Canadian Soccer League in 1989
- Statistician with the Oshawa Generals since 1988 to present.
- Asst Statistician for Toronto Phantoms of the Arena Football League since 2001 to present.
- Part-time statistician on OHL Game of the Week in 2002.
