June 8 - Intercounty Baseball Results

Toronto Maple Leafs 3, Guelph Royals 2

In Toronto, Paul Spoljaric struck out 12 batters in eight innings to back the Maple Leafs to a 3-2 win over the Guelph Royals.

Spoljaric (4-0), who leads the Intercounty Baseball League with 62 strikeouts in six games, allowed four hits and two walks before David Hatch finished the game with his second save.

Rob Patterson had a two-run double in the fifth inning for the Maple Leafs, who have won 30 straight games at Christie Pits dating back to August, 2001.

Ryan Armstrong (1-1) gave up three runs and four hits in five innings. Dave Teboekhorst had three hits, including a two-run homer in the ninth inning.

Hamilton Cardinals 3, Brantford Red Sox 2

In Hamilton, Shayne Ridley brought home the winning run with a sacrifice fly in the eighth inning to help the Cardinals edge the Brantford Red Sox 3-2.

Jason Pilkington (3-0) pitched the complete game, allowing two runs on eight hits with five strikeouts and two walks.

Stefan Strecker (3-1) allowed three runs - one earned - and three hits in eight innings.

Waterloo Tigers 5, St. Thomas Storm 3

In Waterloo, Jason Herbert, Mike Robertson and Greg Stefan all had a pair of hits to help the Tigers to a 5-3 win over the St. Thomas Storm.

Pat Hill (1-1) pitched seven innings, allowing one run before Adam Beck closed the game with two innings of relief for his first save.

Darby Parsons (0-2) pitched the complete game for St. Thomas, giving up five runs in the loss.

Bob Grant hit a pair of home runs, including a two-run shot in the eighth inning.

The doubleheader between Oshawa and London was postponed due to rain. A make-up date will be announced in the near future.
