Guelph Royals 11, Oshawa Dodgers 2

In Oshawa, Rob Dinwoodie hit a grand slam in the sixth inning to power the Guelph Royals to an 11-2 win over the Dodgers in the Intercounty Baseball League on Sunday.

Mel Melehes (5-0) struck out eight batters and gave up five hits in seven shutout innings for Guelph. Duane Fagel allowed two runs in two innings of relief.

Steve Butterworth (0-3) gave up eight runs - two earned - and eight hits in a six-inning start. Trevor Churchill and Kris Kewley each had a pair of hits and scored runs in the win.

Ken Calway was three-for-four with an RBI single for Oshawa.

Toronto Maple Leafs 20, Barrie Baycats 7

In Toronto, Kevin Treichel had a pair of home runs, including a first inning grand slam, to give the Maple Leafs a 20-7 win over the Barrie Baycats.

Treichel had five hits on the day, including a two-run homer in the third inning and Mike Grieve had two hits, including a solo homer, and drove in three runs.

Paul Spoljaric (6-0) allowed three runs and six hits and struck out five batters in six innings.

Jordan Neufeld (1-1) lasted just 1/3 of an inning, giving up seven runs and three hits in the first inning. Arman Sidhu had three hits, including a solo homer in the fifth inning.

London Majors 12, Kitchener Panthers 8

In Kitchener, Yoel Hernandez blasted a two-run home in the second inning to help the London Majors to a 12-8 win over the Panthers.

Fielding Lewis was six-for-six with a single, double and triple and added a ground rule double in the ninth inning. Kevin MacDonald and Chris Robinson launched back-to-back home runs to lead off the third inning.

Adam Campbell (2-1) was the winning pitcher and Tom Bertic (2-1) took the loss.

Brian Carter belted a lead-off home run in the seventh inning for Kitchener.

In Hamilton, Jason Gotwalt had four hits, including an eighth inning homer, and drove in five runs to pace the Brantford Red Sox to a 13-5 win over the Cardinals.

Tom Sidorkiewicz (1-0) pitched 2 2/3 innings of scoreless relief for starter Mark Ferguson, who gave up four runs in six innings.

Kevin Niven (0-1) took the loss after giving up three runs - two earned - in one inning of relief.

Shawn Lynn had a pair of hits, drove in two runs and scored once.

In St. Thomas, the Waterloo Tigers scored six times in the ninth inning on their way to an 11-2 win over the Storm.

Tyler Wilson (1-0) gave up 11 hits and walked two in the win and Darby Parsons (0-1) gave up 14 hits, struck out five batters and walked five in the loss.
