July 6 - Intercounty Baseball Results

Toronto Maple Leafs 3, Oshawa Dodgers 1

In Toronto, Rob Butler hit a two-run home run in the first inning to pace the Maple Leafs to a 3-1 win over the Oshawa Dodgers in the Intercounty Baseball League on Sunday.

Rob Patterson added a pair of hits, including an RBI single in the third inning.

Chris Rauth (1-0) threw five no-hit innings for his first win of the season and Dave Hatch allowed one run and three hits in two innings before racking up his third save.

Matt Tosoni (2-3) allowed three runs and seven hits in five innings.

Jeff Tobin had a pair of hits, including an RBI single in the eighth inning for Oshawa.

Waterloo Tigers 3, Barrie Baycats 2

In Waterloo, Jason Herbert had a two-run single in the fifth inning to help the Tigers to a 3-2 win over the Barrie Baycats.

Brett Lawson (3-1) went the distance for Waterloo, giving up two runs and five hits while striking out nine batters and walking four.

Coogie Freedman (0-1) allowed three unearned runs - including the game-winner on a wild pitch - and five hits while striking out eight batters in eight innings.

James Foster had a pair of singles for Barrie.

Guelph Royals 20, St. Thomas Storm 1

In St. Thomas, Rob Dinwoodie homered and drove in four runs, including the game-winner in the second inning, to help the Guelph Royals to a 20-1 win over the Storm.

Kris Kewly (1-0) pitched six innings, giving up one run and six hits for the win.

Rick Ross (1-5) surrendered 12 runs - 10 earned - and 14 hits in 4 2/3 innings.

Mark Sgrignoli had five hits and an RBI and Kevin Hinton drove in five runs.

Brantford Red Sox 12, Kitchener Panthers 2

In Kitchener, Dave Parsons had three hits, including a pair of doubles, and drove in the winning run in the fifth inning to give the Brantford Red Sox a 12-2 win over the Panthers.

Stefan Strecker (4-3) went the distance for Brantford, giving up twi runs and five hits while striking out five batters and walking two.

Mike Oildes (0-2) allowed six runs and nine hits in five innings. Kyle Whitson was four-for-four with two doubles for Kitchener.

London Majors 4, Hamilton Cardinals 3 (Game 1)
London Majors 10, Hamilton Cardinals 3 (Game 2)

In London, Fielding Lewis homered in the bottom of the 10th inning to lift the Majors to a 4-3 win over the Hamilton Cardinals in the first game of a doubleheader.

Yoel Fernandez (3-0) pitched all 10 innings for London, giving up three runs and 12 hits while striking out 11 batters in the win.

Sean Reilly had three hits, including a homer and two doubles, and drove in a pair of runs for Hamilton. Nino Fussolo (1-2) allowed one run and two hits in 5 2/3 innings.

Lewis homered again in the second game and Kyle Piwowarczyk added a pair of hits to help London to a 10-3 win.

Mike Featherling also had two hits, including a double, and drove in two runs for London.

Rob Robinson (5-1) worked all seven innings, giving up three runs - one earned - and five hits while striking out five batters and walking one.

P.J. McDonald (1-1) gave up six runs and eight hits in 3 2/3 innings and Brandon Schmidt had a triple for Hamilton.
