July 25 - Intercounty Baseball Results

London Majors 2, St. Thomas Storm 0

In London, Todd Bargman drove in the winning run with a fifth-inning double and Yoel Fernandez tossed four scoreless innings to give the Majors a 2-0 win over the St. Thomas Storm.

Fernandez (6-0) was one of five London pitchers that took the hill in the win. He struck out five batters and walked one for the win.

Chris Robinson was three-for-four and Kevin MacDonald added a pair of hits for London.

Chris Gosnell (0-5) went the distance for St. Thomas, giving up two runs and eight hits while striking out five batters and walking two. He added a pair of hits in the loss.

Kitchener Panthers 7, Barrie Baycats 2

In Kitchener, Randy Curran homered to lead off the third inning and help the Panthers to a 7-2 win over the Barrie Baycats.

Harpreet Padda added a pair of singles and drove in a run for Kitchener.

Joel Scott (3-3) tossed seven innings and gave up two runs - one earned - and six hits for the win. Tom Bertic worked two scoreless innings of relief to finish the game.

Brad Bissell (4-4) gave up six runs - five earned - and four hits while issuing eight walks in three innings. Liam O'Brien had a pair of singles for Barrie. The loss eliminated Barrie from contention for a playoff spot.

Playoff Format
The top seven teams at the conclusion of the regular season qualify for the 2003 IBL Playoffs. The first place team receives a bye in the first round of the playoffs. The second place team plays the seventh place team, third plays sixth and fourth plays fifth in the first round of the playoffs, which begins on Thursday July 31.

All first round series are best-of-five games. The second round is best-of-seven game series that begins on August 6 and the championship final series is a best-of-seven that begins on August 17.
