Toronto Maple Leafs 18, Barrie Baycats 8
In Toronto, Kevin Treichel hit a two-run home run and scored four times to power the Maple Leafs to an 18-8 win over the Barrie Baycats. The win clinched the 2003 Intercounty Baseball League pennant for the Maple Leafs, their 17th in franchise history and 16th in the past 25 years.
Tyler Johnstone belted out four hits, scored three times and drove in three runs, Rob Patterson had three hits and drove in three runs and Adwin Springer added a pair of hits, scored three times and drove in three runs for Toronto.
Dave Steffler (1-0) pitched one scoreless inning of relief for starter Mark Eccleton, who gave up six runs in four innings.
Barrie reliever Andrew Hawes (1-2) gave up seven runs - one earned - and five hits in 2 2/3 innings after starter Coogie Freedman allowed five runs in four innings.
Jordan Lundberg had three hits, including a pair of home runs and a double and Jeremy Uylenbroek added a two-run homer for Barrie.

In Hamilton, Chris England tossed a two-hit shutout to back the Oshawa Dodgers to a 1-0 win over the Cardinals in the first half of a doubleheader.
England (1-1) struck out eight batters and walked three for the win. Ryan Crotin singled to start the sixth inning and scored on a single by Ken Calway. Ryan Balan and Jeff Tobin also singled for Oshawa.
Shawn Lynn (3-2) gave up one run and four hits in six innings and Nino Fussolo finished the game with a scoreless inning of relief. Andy Steeds singled in the first inning and Jon McGinn singled with two out in the seventh inning for Hamilton.
R.J. Lambert crushed a two-run home run in the sixth inning to give the Cardinals a 7-0 win in the second game.
Steeds walked and then scored the winning run on a sacrifice fly by Sean Reilly and Lambert added a run-scoring single in the first for Hamilton.
Joe Hill (1-0) tossed four scoreless innings of relief for the win after starter Pat Lynch gave up one hit in three innings.
Oshawa starter Kevin Wallace (0-4) allowed three runs in one inning and Adam Garner gave up five runs in 4 2/3 innings or relief. Ryan Balan smacked a pair of doubles for Oshawa.
