Kitchener Panthers 9, London Majors 0

In Kitchener, Joel Scott smashed a three-run home run in the first inning to help the Panthers to a 9-0 win over the London Majors in game one of their first round playoff series.

Randy Curran blasted a two-run homer and Harpreet Padda added three hits, including a two-run homer, and scored three times.

Bryon Bell (1-0) worked six scoreless innings for Kitchener, giving up two hits and striking out six batters.

Gordon Walters (0-1) gave up eight runs in 3 2/3 innings and Greg Goss allowed one run in 3 1/3 innings of relief.

Brantford Red Sox 3, Oshawa Dodgers 1

In Brantford, Steve Charles clubbed a three-run home run in the sixth inning to give the Red Sox a 3-1 win over the Oshawa Dodgers in game one of their opening round playoff series.

Jason Gotwalt and Eric Wolfe each added a pair of hits in the win.

Brad Hogeterp (1-0) gave up one run and five hits in a complete-game effort for Brantford. He struck out nine batters and walked three in the win.

Ryan Balan (0-1) gave up three runs and seven hits in eight innings. He struck out seven batters and walked two and scored a run in the loss.

In Guelph, Joel Lynch hit a bases-loaded single in the bottom of the 13th inning to lift the Royals to a 4-3 win over the Hamilton Cardinals in Game 1 of their first round playoff series.

Lynch was three-for-six and Chris Becker added three hits for Guelph.

Aaron Little (1-0) allowed one unearned run and two hits in 5 2/3 innings after starter Mel Melehes gave up two runs in 7 1/3 innings.

Nino Fussolo (0-1) gave up two runs and four hits in 4 1/3 innings of relief. Craig Hawkins allowed two runs and seven hits in an eight-inning start.

Andy Steeds belted out three hits and scored two runs for Hamilton.
