IBL Announces Major Award Winners
The Intercounty Baseball League today announced the Most Valuable Player and Rookie of the Year for the 2003 season as voted by the league managers.
The 2003 Most Valuable Player was Toronto Maple Leafs pitcher Paul Spoljaric, who led the IBL with an 11-0 record and 120 strikeouts in 13 starts this season. The former Major League pitcher maintained a 1.61 earned run average in 84 innings.
Harpreet Padda of the Kitchener Panthers was named IBL Rookie of the Year after leading the team with a .339 batting average in 31 games. Padda, a first team all-star outfielder, had 39 hits, including 10 doubles and three home runs and stole seven bases.
