Guelph Royals 4, Stratford Storm 1

In Guelph, Jason Borghese belted three hits and drove in a run to pace the Guelph Royals to a 4-1 win over the Stratford Storm.

Mel Melehes (2-0) struck out nine batters and allowed one run and four hits in seven innings.

Jason Davidson (0-1) gave up two runs and seven hits in 5 2/3 innings.

Kitchener Panthers 8, Oshawa Dodgers 4

In Oshawa, Luke Baker drove in the winning run with an eighth-inning single to help the Kitchener Panthers double the Oshawa Dodgers 8-4.

Jeff Pietraszko had a single and drove in two runs for Kitchener.

John Morby (1-0) picked up the win with 3 2/3 innings of relief for starter Adam Hornostaj, who gave up three earned runs in 4 1/3 innings.

Adam Clarke (0-1) gave up four runs - two earned - and five hits in 1 1/3 innings. Al Stephens had a pair of hits, including a three-run homer in the fifth inning.

In Brantford, Paul Borjas drove in the winning run with a single in the fifth inning to help the Brantford Red Sox to a 5-2 win over the London Majors.

Lenny Elias had three hits, including a pair of doubles, and scored two runs and Ryan Lane had a pair of singles and scored a run.

Stefan Strecker (1-0) gave up one run and four hits in seven innings for the win.

Kevin Virtue (0-1) gave up five runs and seven hits in five innings.

Simon Galarraga and Jeremy Hudson each had a pair of hits for London.
