In Barrie, Paul Spoljaric struck out 13 batters in eight innings to back the Toronto Maple Leafs to a 7-1 win over the Barrie Baycats in one of four games in the Intercounty baseball League on Saturday.
Spoljaric (1-0) gave up eight hits and one run before Mike Phinney finished the game with a pair of strikeouts in the ninth inning.
Kevin Treichel had a pair of hits and drove in a run and Rob Butler singled home the winning run in the fifth inning.
Angus Roy (1-2) gave up five runs - one earned - and seven hits in 6 2/3 innings.
Toby Legace had three hits and stole a pair of bases for Barrie.

In Brantford, Raul Borjas singled home the winning run in the 16th inning to lift the Brantford Red Sox to a 2-1 win over the Kitchener Panthers.
Dave Parsons had a pair of hits, including a double, and scored the winning run with the bases loaded. Len Elias stroked three singles for Brantford.
Jeff Simeone (1-0) worked a scoreless inning of relief for the win after starter Stefan Strecker allowed one run and five hits in 8 2/3 innings.
Darcy Osipenko (0-1) took the loss after putting the inning run on base in the 16th inning.

In Oshawa, Pat Tobin was three-for-three with a three-run home run that helped the Oshawa Dodgers to a 16-14 win over the Hamilton Cardinals.
Darryl Reid also had three hits for Oshawa, including a double that brought in the winning run in the fourth inning.
Travis Gilligan (1-0) picked up the win after allowing seven runs and 10 hits in four innings. He struck out seven batters and walked one. Starter Gord Robertson was tagged for six runs in three innings of work.
Craig Hawkins (1-1) allowed 14 runs - seven earned - and nine hits in 3 1/3 innings.
Jon McGinn had three hits, including a pair of doubles, and drove in four runs and Shayne Ridley pounded a three-run homer for Hamilton.
