Intercounty Baseball Results - Saturday June 12

Brantford Red Sox 9, Stratford Storm 7

In Brantford, Raul Borjas had three hits, including a single that brought in the winning run in the eighth inning to lift the Brantford Red Sox to a 9-7 win over the Stratford Storm in the Intercounty Baseball League on Saturday.

John Mariotti added a pair of hits, including a double, and drove in two runs for Brantford.

Elliot Love (1-0) struck out three batters and allowed one run and one hit in 1 2/3 innings of relief for starter John Cosentino, who allowed three runs in 3 2/3 innings.

Reliever Fred Schurr (0-1) gave up the winning run in an inning of work after Yoel Fernandez allowed five runs in seven innings.

Vince Burke had a pair of singles and drove in three runs and Mark Cox added three singles and an RBI for Stratford.

In Oshawa, Dan Nauth tossed a complete game shutout to back the Oshawa Dodgers to a 4-0 win over the London Majors in the first half of a doubleheader at Kinsmen Memorial Stadium.

Nauth (2-1) allowed five hits while striking out six batters and walking three.

Mick Kurhan was three-for-three, including a two run single and Adam Sylvestre hit a two-run single in the fourth inning.

Mike Mitro (1-2) surrendered four runs and five hits in four innings.

Kurhan belted a solo homer run that helped Oshawa to a 7-5 win in the second game.

Ryan Crotin also homered and Kyle Sheppard drove in the winning run in the third inning.

Brett Backman (1-1) gave up five runs - one earned - and nine hits in 5 2/3 innings and Chad Stone worked a scoreless inning of relief for his first save.

Jeremy Middleton (0-1) gave up three runs and five hits in two innings.

Toronto Maple Leafs 11, Barrie Baycats 3

In Barrie, Kevin Treichel blasted a pair of homers and drove in four runs to power the Toronto Maple Leafs to an 11-3 win over the Barrie Baycats.

Danny Gibbons and Gamin Teague also homered for Toronto.

Russ Williams (2-0) picked up the win after giving up three runs and six hits in eight innings.

Barrie starter Brad Bissell (0-1) gave up three unearned runs and four hits in six innings.

Alex Borgo belted a double, homered and drove in three runs for the Baycats, who host the Oshawa Dodgers in a special weekday afternoon game this Thursday at 2:00 p.m.

Hamilton Cardinals 8, Guelph Royals 1

In Guelph, Brett Lawson struck out 13 batters in a complete-game effort to back the Hamilton Cardinals to an 8-1 win over the Guelph Royals.

Lawson (3-0) allowed one run and five hits in his second complete game of the season.

R.J. Lambert had three hits and drove in a pair of runs for Hamilton, who broke the game open with a four-run seventh inning.

Jake Hines (1-1) allowed four runs and seven hits in 6 2/3 innings.
