Kitchener Panthers 19, Stratford Storm 8

In Kitchener, Brian Carter smashed a three-run home run in the fifth inning that helped the Kitchener Panthers to a 19-8 win over the Stratford Storm in one of three match-ups in the Intercounty Baseball League on Sunday.

Luke Baker led off the first inning with a homer and Mark Johnston started the home half of the second with a solo blast.

Joel Scott was the winner after allowing six runs - three earned � in seven innings.

Starter Brian Stewart lasted just 1 1/3 innings, giving up seven runs and Yoel Fernandez was tagged for 12 runs in a relief appearance.

Barrie Baycats 6, Hamilton Cardinals 4

In Hamilton, David Latour had three hits, including a triple and a pair of doubles, to give the Barrie Baycats a 6-4 win over the Hamilton Cardinals.

Corey Turchan tripled and added a run-scoring sacrifice fly and Mike Cart clubbed a two-run homer for Barrie.

Coleman picked up the win in relief after allowing one run and five hits in 5 2/3 innings.

Craig Hawkins gave up three runs and five hits in 5 2/3 innings.

R.J. Lambert belted a two-run homer in the eighth inning. It was his third homer in two games.

In Toronto, Paul Spoljaric struck out 11 batters in seven innings to back the Toronto Maple Leafs to a 5-3 win over the Oshawa Dodgers in the first game of a double header at Christie Pits.

Spoljaric gave up three runs and eight hits and didn�t walk any batters.

Rob Butler homered in the sixth inning and Damon Topolie had a pair of hits, including a two-run double for Toronto.

Danny Gibbons and Kevin Treichel each launched three-run home runs that powered Toronto to a 20-2 win in the second game.

Doug Dimma had four hits and drove in three runs for Toronto and Chris Roth picked up the win after holding Oshawa scoreless on one hit in five innings.
