Cam Newitt threw a complete-game three-hitter to lead the Baycats to victory. Newitt gave up just one run while striking out seven. Majors starter and loser Yoel Fernandez was almost as good, allowing two runs (1 earned) on six hits while striking out four. Jared McCord led the Barrie attack with three hits and an RBI. For London Chris Robinson stroke a double and a single.

Andy Sorochan stroked a two-RBI double in the first inning to lead the Baycats to a win, and a sweep of this afternoon�s double-header in London. Barrie�s Jared McCord also had a big game with two hits including a double. Angus Roy earned the win allowing no earned runs on six hits in a complete-game effort that saw him strike out seven. For London,Wayne Foreman led the attack going two for three. Starter and loser Andy Broaden lasted four innings and gave up three runs (1 earned). Trevor Bishop came on in the fifth and threw three scoreless innings.
Melehes Close To Perfect As Royals Blank Cardinals

Guelph pitcher Mel Melehes flirted with a perfect game as the Royals blanked the Cardinals 3-0 in the first of a doubleheader. The Cardinals first hit came in the sixth inning off the bat of Ismael Cox as Melehes had a perfect game through five innings. Melehes finished with nine strikeouts and faced just twenty-three batters over seven innings. Matt Spatafora, Chris Becker and Nathan Grant all had RBI singles for Guelph while Dave Teboekhorst scored twice. Hamilton starter Sean Allen took the loss and struck out two.

Jeremy Walker had an RBI single in the first then added a two-run single in the fifth inning to lead Hamilton. Sean Reilly added some insurance with a three-run home run in the fifth and Andy Steed scored a pair of runs for the Cardinals. Hamilton starter Omar Goldson went six and two-thirds innings to earn the win in his Major Inter-County debut. He gave up two earned runs while striking out seven. Guelph starter Brian Dikdan took the loss, giving up six runs in six and two-thirds innings. Trevor Churchill led the Royals with single, RBI and two runs. Player-Manager Kevin Hinton added a double and a single.
Maple Leafs Edge Tigers After Ninth Inning Comeback

The Maple Leafs scored twice in the bottom of the ninth to pull out a 2-1 victory. Rich Butler�s single scored Jason Corrigale with the tying run and Hans Schnell with the winner to improve Toronto�s record to 6 and 1. Damon Topolie added two hits, including a double for Toronto. Starting pitcher Paul Spoljaric threw eight strong innings, giving up one unearned run on three hits. He struck out fifteen and walked three but didn�t pick up the win. That went to Dave Hatch who threw a scoreless ninth.
Waterloo starter Scott Jealous was nearly flawless until the ninth inning, allowing only a pair of hits over eight innings. He struck out six and walked three in a losing effort.
Red Sox Overpower Panthers

The Panthers scored twice in their first at-bat but the Red Sox fired back with five runs in the top of the second and never looked back. Steve Charles� bases-clearing double in the sixth inning was one of his four hits in the game. Charles also hit a solo home run in the fifth and wound up with six RBI�s and scored two runs. Raul Borjas chipped in with three hits for Brantford. Stefan Strecker picked up the win in relief of starter Mark Shephard. Strecker threw the final two and a third, allowing just one hit while striking out a pair.
Kitchener starter Chris Currie took the loss, giving up nine earned runs on eleven hits in five innings. He struck out three, walked two, had two wild pitches and two hit batsmen. Brian Carter led the Panthers at the plate with three hits and an RBI while Luke Baker added two hits (including a triple) and two RBI�s.
Scott, Irving Lead Panthers Over Red Sox

Joel Scott threw a complete-game gem and Mike Irving had a solid defensive game at third base to lead the Panthers to a 5-1 win and a split of today�s doubleheader. Scott gave up an unearned run on five hits while striking out seven and walking none. Irving chipped in with one hit and a pair of RBI�s to go along with his glove and arm. Brian Carter added two hits and an RBI. Red Sox starter Dale Marsden took the loss, allowing three earned runs on six hits in four-plus innings. He struck out one and walked two. Raul Borjas went two for three and drove in the only Brantford run.
All five Kitchener runs were scored in the fifth inning thanks in large part to four Brantford errors. Two of the runs were unearned.
