Dodgers Comeback Falls Short

A close call at the plate halted a valiant Dodgers comeback in a wild one in Oshawa. A passed ball in the bottom of the ninth led to the ninth Dodgers run, and the throw to the plate on the same play by the Kitchener catcher went by Panthers pitcher Chris Dickie. Dodgers� baserunner Darryl Reid, who advanced to third on the passed ball, then tried to score but was tagged out on a great throw by Kitchener second baseman Craig Stroh.
Dickie earned the save for the Panthers despite allowing three earned runs on five hits in two innings. Mike Olides picked up the win, giving up seven runs (only two earned) on twelve hits in seven innings. Brian Carter and Mark Johnston each had two hits and two RBI�s to lead the Kitchener attack. Mark Pederson added three hits and one RBI.
For Oshawa Adam Johnston was four for six with three RBI�s, Aaron Jamison had three hits and three RBI�s while Ryan Crotin added three hits and two RBI�s. Adam Clarke gave up five runs (two earned) on seven hits over four innings to take the loss.

Jason Head stroked a home run and a double and finished with four RBI�s, including the game winner. With the win the Storm move to .500 while the Tigers drop to 1 and 6. Peter Babcock chipped in with four hits and an RBI for St. Thomas while Ben Vaniderstine and Andrew Mercier each had two singles, a double and an RBI. Storm starter Brent Kennedy picked up the win allowing a pair of earned runs on two hits over six and two-thirds innings. He struck out six and walked six.
For Waterloo Greg Stefan led the way with a single and a pair of RBI�s. Pat Hill took the loss giving up five earned runs in four innings. He walked two and struck out one.
