Guelph Royals win the IBL All-Star Game presented by Shoppers Drug Mart
Guelph Royals 4, IBL All-Stars 3
In Guelph, Kyle Leon had two hits and drove in the winning run in the seventh inning to lift the Guelph Royals to a 4-3 win over the Intercounty Baseball League All-Stars in the 2004 Shoppers Drug Mart IBL All-Star Game on Tuesday.
Leon (pictured right with IBL Commissioner Jim Rooney), who also scored in the win, was named the player of the game. Chris Becker belted a solo home run for Guelph and Trevor Churchill added two hits and an RBI.
Dave Teboekhorst earned the win after holding the all-stars scoreless on one hit in two innings after starter Nathan Tami allowed three runs and four hits in five innings. Jamie Pogue struck out three batters in two scoreless innings for the save.
Doug Dimma of the Toronto Maple Leafs took the loss for the All-Stars after allowing one run and two hits in one inning. Starter Angus Roy of the Barrie Baycats pitched two scoreless innings.
Toronto Maple Leafs first baseman Dan Gibbons was two-for-two and scored a run for the All-Stars.
