Intercounty Baseball Results - Wednesday July 7

Stratford Storm 7, Brantford Red Sox 5

In Brantford, John Hanko had four hits, including a homer, and drove in three runs to power the Stratford Storm to a 7-5 win over the Brantford Red Sox in one of three match-ups in the Intercounty Baseball League on Wednesday.

Fielding Lewis doubled and then scored the winning run on Hanko's ninth-inning single.

Rick Ross (1-1) earned the win after pitching two scoreless innings of relief. Starter Kevin McNight allowed four runs - two earned - and three hits in seven innings.

Reliever Derek Rapini (1-1) took the loss and starter John Mariotti gave up two runs and five hits in five innings.

Raul Borjas singled and scored two runs for Brantford.

Toronto Maple Leafs 13, Kitchener Panthers 7

In Toronto, Rich Butler had three hits, including a solo homer to help the Toronto Maple Leafs to a 13-7 win over the Kitchener Panthers.

Damon Topolie had two hits, including a three-run homer in the eighth inning, and Damon Teague capped a six-run eighth inning with his fifth homer of the season.

Paul Spoljaric (6-0) earned his league-leading sixth win after allowing six runs and nine hits in seven innings. He struck out six batters and walked two.

Mark Schmidt (0-1) suffered the loss after giving up four runs in 1 1/3 innings of relief. Starter Ian Hagan was tagged for five runs and five hits in six innings of work.

Ryan Roeder belted a grand slam in the first inning for Kitchener. Jamie Pietraszko clubbed a solo homer in the third inning and Jeff Pietraszko added a solo drive in the ninth.

Guelph Royals 10, Oshawa Dodgers 5

In Oshawa, Sean Reilly stroked a run-scoring single in the ninth inning that helped the Guelph Royals double the Oshawa Dodgers 10-5.

Ted Drew Smith had three hits and drove in four runs and Jason Borghese had a hit and brought in two runs for Guelph.

Aaron Little (3-0) struck out three batters in two scoreless innings of relief for the win after starter Mel Melehes surrendered four runs and 11 hits in four innings.

Reliever Mark Wilson (0-1) didn�t retire a batter and gave up three runs on two hits and two walks in his debut with the Dodgers. Starter Scott Robinson allowed four runs and six hits in four innings.

Darryl Reid was three-for-five and Ryan Crotin had a pair of hits and drove in two runs for Oshawa.
