Pro prospect Jon Lockwood got the start for the league-leading Maple Leafs tonight and with better than half a dozen scouts in the stands he threw a complete-game six-hitter. Lockwood struck out ten Cardinals while throwing a consistent 90-mile an hour fastball as he improved to 2 and 0 on the season. Dan Gibbons' two-run home run in the sixth inning proved the be the difference. Gibbons later added an RBI-single and another single after striking out his first two times at the plate. Rich Butler chipped in with two hits, including a solo home run (1), and two RBIs. Hamilton starter Bill Lawrence was solid for his seven innings of work, but did pick up the loss (1-1) after giving up the two-run shot to Givens. Lawrence allowed three earned runs on six hits while striking out six. Andy Steeds and Jeremy Walker each had RBI singles as Hamilton scored twice in the third inning to take a 2-1 lead.
