Barrie Baycats 8, Hamilton Cardinals 2

In Barrie, Cory Turchan scored the winning run on a sacrifice fly in the third inning to help the Barrie Baycats cruise to an 8-2 win over the Hamilton Cardinals in one of two games on the Intercounty Baseball League schedule on Tuesday.

Jared McCord was four-for-four at the plate for Barrie and starting pitcher Brad Bissell (3-1) held Hamilton to a pair of runs and eight hits in seven innings.

Matt Fortuna had three hits, including a double, and scored two runs for Hamilton while Jon McGinn was two-for-four with a double and an RBI.

Matt Lareau (0-5) was tagged for eight runs - four earned and eight hits in seven innings.

Brantford Red Sox 6, Stratford Storm 3

In Stratford, Len Elias clubbed a three-run home run that helped the Brantford Red Sox double the Stratford Storm 6-3.

Raul Borjas also homered and Dave Parsons added three singles for Brantford.

Jon Mariotti (1-1) allowed three runs - two earned - and five hits in six innings for the win and Tony Bacci struck out the side in the ninth inning for his first save.

Stratford starter Bryant Wilson (0-1) gave up five runs - one earned - and six hits in 3 1/3 innings.

Pedro Ozuno had a pair of hits for Stratford, including a double, and Yoel Fernandez and Josh Braby each singled and drove in a run.
