Intercounty Baseball Results - Thursday July 15

Guelph Royals 19, Kitchener Panthers 0

In Kitchener, Kevin Hinton belted a historic homer that helped the Guelph Royals to a 19-0 win over the Kitchener Panthers in the Intercounty Baseball League on Thursday.

Hinton singled in the fourth inning to tie former Kitchener Panthers shortstop Tom McKenzie for fifth on the IBL's all-time career hits list. Hinton's homer in the fifth inning gave him sole possession of fifth place with 571 career hits.

Sean Reilly added two homers and drove in five runs in the win while Mark Brohman slugged a grand slam in the eighth inning. Trevor Churchill and Jason Borghese also homered for Guelph.

Brian Barr (1-0) earned the win with six shutout innings. He gave up five hits and two walks and struck out four batters. Brian Dikdan, Nathan Tami and Aaron Little each worked an inning of relief to preserve the shutout.

Starter Adam Hornostaj (1-1) surrendered six runs - four earned - and four hits in three plus innings and Luke Baker and Chris Dickie each had two hits for Kitchener.

Brantford Red Sox 13, London Majors 3

In London, John Mariotti belted a three-run homer and scored the winning run to power the Brantford Red Sox to a 13-3 win over the London Majors.

Brantford starter Brad Hogeterp pushed his undefeated record to 5-0 after allowing three runs and five hits across nine innings. He struck out six batters and walked two.

Adam Gautreau (1-1) gave up four runs and seven hits in five innings.

Two IBL games were rained out on Thursday, including Toronto at Stratford, which will be played on Monday July 19 (8:00 p.m.) in Stratford, and Oshawa at Barrie, who will announce a make-up date in the near future.
