Kitchener Panthers 6, Guelph Royals 5
In Kitchener, Luke Baker smacked a game-winning solo homer in the bottom of the ninth inning to lift the Kitchener Panthers to a 6-5 win over the Guelph Royals in one of two games on the Intercounty Baseball League schedule on Monday.
Jamie Pietraszko had a pair of hits, including a home run in the second inning for Kitchener.
Darcy Osipinko (2-4) picked up the win with 2/3 of an inning of relief. Starter Dane Anderson gave up five runs in 3 2/3 innings and Adam Humel worked 4 2/3 scoreless innings of relief.
Aaron Little (3-1) took the loss in 1 1/3 innings of work after starter Brian Dikdan gave up three runs and five hits in six innings.
Chris Becker had a pair of hits, including a homer for Guelph.

Toronto Maple Leafs 12, Stratford Storm 6
In Stratford, Rich Butler belted out four hits, including a double and a homer that powered the Toronto Maple Leafs to a 12-6 win over the Stratford Storm.
Joe Colameco had three hits, including a triple, and drove in three runs and Jess Robertson added a double and drove in a run for Toronto, who moved ahead of the Brantford Red Sox for first place in the IBL standings with the win.
Dave Hatch (1-1) struck out three batters in two scoreless innings of relief after starter Rob Robinson allowed five runs and eight hits in five innings.
Reliever Bryant Wilson (0-1) gave up six runs - two earned - and five hits in 2 2/3 innings.
Matt Moir and Mike Alati each hit two-run homers for Stratford.

Playoff Format
The top eight teams at the conclusion of the regular season qualify for the 2004 IBL Playoffs. The first place team plays the eighth place team, the second place team plays the seventh place team, third plays sixth and fourth plays fifth in the first round of the playoffs, which begins on Wednesday July 28. All first round series are best-of-seven games. The second round series begin on August 7 and the championship final series begins on August 18. All playoff series are best-of-seven.
