Intercounty Baseball Results - Saturday July 24

Brantford Red Sox 4, Oshawa Dodgers 3

In Oshawa, John Mariotti had two hits, including a seventh-inning single that brought in the winning run to give the Brantford Red Sox a 4-3 win over the Oshawa Dodgers in one of four games on the Intercounty Baseball League schedule on Saturday.

T.J. Shimizu had two hits, including a solo homer for Brantford while Stefan Strecker (6-2) earned the win after allowing three runs and six hits in 6 1/3 innings. Mark Ferguson closed the game with 2 2/3 hitless innings of relief for his fourth save of the season.

Travis Gilligan (2-4) allowed four runs - three earned - and five hits in seven innings. Mark Wilson finished the game with two scoreless innings of relief.

Tim Smith had two hits and drove in a run and Ken Calway was two-for-three with an RBI double for Oshawa.

Kitchener Panthers 8, Stratford Storm 1

In Stratford, Jeff Pietraszko hit three doubles and drove in three runs to help the Kitchener Panthers to an 8-1 win over the Stratford Storm.

Jamie Pietraszko belted a two-run homer and Chris Duggan had two doubles and drove in three runs for Kitchener.

Brad Hagedorn (1-0) gave up one run and three hits in three innings for the win.

Rick Ross (1-3) took the loss for Stratford after giving up five runs - three eanred - and five hits in three innings.

Josh Braby hit an RBI single and John Hanko and junior Dallas Pearson added doubles in the loss.

Toronto Maple Leafs 15, Hamilton Cardinals 3

In Hamilton, Jesse Robertson singled and drove in five runs to pace the Toronto Maple Leafs to a 15-3 win over the Hamilton Cardinals.

Rich Butler belted a pair of doubles and scored three runs and Kern Watts doubled and drove in two runs for Toronto.

David Steffler (5-1) allowed eight hits and struck out nine batters in six scoreless innings.

Shayne Ridley had three hits and drove in three runs at the plate and struck out four batters in three innings of relief for Hamilton. P.J. MacDonald (0-2) gave up nine runs - seven earned - and six hits in three innings.

In Guelph, Jonathan Baksh singled four times to help the Barrie Baycats to a 5-1 win over the Guelph Royals.

Barrie starter Angus Roy (6-4) struck out eight batters in the win.

Jamie Pogue homered for Guelph and Kris Dabrowiecki allowed a pair of runs - one earned - in seven innings for Guelph.
