1975 Majors Meet 2004 Championship Finalists At Labatt Park
The London Majors Baseball Corporation (est. 1925) will introduce members of the 1975 Majors before Game 4 of the Intercounty Baseball League Championship on Sunday, August 22.
The 1975 Majors ballclub was Londons last Intercounty championship squad. Players included left-handed pitcher Mike Kilkenny, a league all-star and 1975 Intercounty MVP. Affectionately known as "Killer," Kilkenny was 9-0, with 129 strikeouts, 46 walks, nine complete games and an earned run average of 1.31. Kilkenny played for the Detroit Tigers and Cleveland Indians during a five-year stint (1969-1973) in the Major Leagues.
Other notables from that 1975 team: outfielder Arden Eddie; shortstop Dave Byers; all-star third baseman Barry Boughner; and long-time coach Norm Aldridge.
"The Majors are proud of their history, and this is one way to recognize how the ballclub is important to the fabric of this community," says Majors owner Scott Dart.
"We are currently contacting members of that historic 1975 team, and are thrilled to link our storied past with our present-day ballclub," says Majors alumni director, Jeffrey Reed, who encourages members of that 75 team to contact him at (519) 643-6334.
The Majors will introduce members of the 1975 ballclub before Sundays game, slated for 7:30 p.m. at Labatt Park.
