Majors Announce New General Manager
The London Majors Baseball Corp. and Owner Scott Dart are pleased to announce the appointment of Shawn Gillespie as General Manager for the upcoming 2005 season.
A native of Zurich Ontario, Gillespie provides exceptional experience and expertise. Gillespie is currently an Associate Scout in Eastern Canada and the Michigan Region for the Pittsburgh Pirates. He has played professional baseball in the Heartland, Frontier and Canadian Baseball leagues. Gillespie is no stranger to baseball in London as he was part of the Canadian Baseball Leagues London Monarchs pitching staff in 2003. His talents as a scout, pitching coach and player add strength on and off the field.
Dart said, Im excited to be working with Shawn as our new GM. Shawn has an insiders knowledge of baseball through his vast experience along with an established base of contacts to improve our roster. He will help make the Majors a success on the field and a team that the community can be proud to support.
Gillespies appointment comes at a time when the London Majors are continuing to build the teams presence in the community. A job made easier by the London Majors rise to Intercounty Baseball League (IBL) finalist in the 2004 season, which fostered a growing fan base. The success achieved last season earned new and first-time ball team owner Scott Dart the David E. Hastings Trophy as the 2004 IBL Executive of the Year.
Gillespies primary role will be to hire a manager and coaching staff followed by the solidifying of the 2005 team roster.
The London Majors invite community business leaders to take advantage of the numerous marketing and sponsorship opportunities that exist for 2005. The London Majors are also seeking host families for out of town players for the coming season.
Not just a team in the community, but a Community Team!
