Majors announce new field amanager

The London Majors Baseball Team and General Manager, Shawn Gillespie, are pleased to announce the appointment of Harry Muir as Field Manager for the upcoming 2005 season.

Muir returned to London and the Majors in 1995 after playing professional baseball in France. While in France, Muir played for the Montpellier Barracudas in the Premier League and led them to a National Championship. He was also named Import Pitcher of the year for the league. Gillespie said, Harry is the most logical candidate and we are thrilled to have him. Harry knows the league and also understands the culture that we are creating with the London Majors.

The four years prior to Muirs European tour, he pitched in the minor leagues for the Toronto Blue Jays organization. During the off-season he worked at a local baseball school coaching kids aged 6-18. Muir was on the 1990 Junior Canadian Baseball team, which finished 5th overall in the World Championships. Muir pitched a no-hitter against France solidifying his opportunity to play pro ball. Muir said, After serving as the Pitching Coach last season and seeing how far we got, I felt that we have some unfinished business to attend to. With having a lot of quality players returning from last years roster as well as some key acquisitions for the coming season we should have a stronger roster to go deep into the playoffs.

The Majors home opener is Sunday, May 15th at 1:00 pm in a rematch from last years championship finals versus the Guelph Royals.
