In Kitchener, Adam Hummel pinch hit a two-run home run and tossed three hitless innings of relief to back the Kitchener Panthers to a 5-3 win over the Hamilton Thunderbirds in one of two games in the Intercounty Baseball League on Thursday.
Adam Hornostaj (2-0) allowed three runs and seven hits while striking out seven batters in six innings before Hummel picked up his first save of the season.
Bill Lawrence (0-4) gave up five runs and eight hits in six innings.
Andy Steeds and Jon McGinn each had a pair of hits for Hamilton.
