Panthers Sign Two Pitchers

Back for another season, Jesus Figueroa will be arriving in town on Saturday to help out the Panthers pitching staff. Jesus, age 22, is a native of Tucson Arizona who joined the club last season just before the signing deadline. He turned out to be a great asset for the team as they headed down the stretch and into the playoffs. This 510" Left handed pitcher played for two US College baseball teams in the past few years. His first year was at Spoon River College, his second year was at Sauk Valley College, and both colleges are in Illinois. Jesus will be living in Kitchener for the remainder of the baseball season and has high hopes to win another championship title.

The second pitcher to be signed is Tommy Bertic a 19 year old, 60" right handed pitcher from Missisauga. This spring Tommy had a fine freshman year down at Alfred State College in New York State. Tommy pitched 34 1/3 innings while posting a low 1.55 ERA. Tommy signed with the team on Friday May 31, right after he got his release from the Missisauga Astros. Panthers Vice-President, John Weber and Head Coach Steve Scagnetti were pleased with the way he pitched at Alfred State. The Panthers are happy to have picked up a quality player like Tommy and look forward to his Panthers debut.
