Lockwood Leads Toronto To 10th Straight Win

Toronto starter Jon Lockwood upped his record to 3-0 with seven solid innings against the visiting Cardinals tonight. Lockwood allowed one earned run on five hits while striking out nine and walking one. Sean Travers led the Maple Leafs with three hits and an RBI while Rob Butler added a two-run double in the four-run third inning. Butler and teammate Damon Topolie lead the league with seven doubles each. Hamilton starter Jason Pilkington (1-1) took the loss, giving up four earned runs in seven innings. He struck out two and walked two in a losing effort. Andy Steeds led the Cardinals attack with a pair of hits. Hamilton trailed 5-0 after seven, but roared back with four runs in the eighth inning to climb to within one run.

Dwayne Ellis knocked in just his fourth run of the season, but it was an RBI that gave the Red Sox an 8-7, ten-inning win over the second place Royals. Guelph had taken a 7-5 lead after scoring twice in the top of the eighth, but Brantford roared back with two runs to tie. Ryan Lane led the Red Sox with three hits and a pair of RBI�s with Brandon Steele adding two hits and two RBI�s. Matt Fortuna and Tyson Morgan had three hits apiece. Brett Gibson (1-2) picked up the win with three innings of scoreless relief. He struck out three and walked two. Casey Cooper (1-1) took the loss, allowing eight runs (4 earned) on fourteen hits while striking out three and walking two in nine and a third. Kevin Hinton led Guelph offensively with two hits and three runs with Dave Teboekhorst adding two hits and an RBI.
