IBL Playoff Update - Tuesday August 9
Kitchener Panthers 11, Toronto Maple Leafs 10
In Kitchener, Ryan Roeder belted a two-run homer in the seventh inning that lifted the Kitchener Panthers to an 11-10 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs in one of two games in the Intercounty Baseball League playoffs on Tuesday.
Kitchener tied the series at one game each with Game 3 scheduled for Wednesday at Christie Pits in Toronto.
Jeff Pietraszko had three hits and led off the seventh inning with a double before scoring on Roeder's homer. Luke Baker also had three hits and Wes Koch (1-0) picked up the win in relief.
Jon Chadwick (0-1) took the loss in relief of starter Dave Steffler, who gave up seven runs.
Nildo Puertas hit a two-run homer and Gamin Teague added a solo blast for the Maple Leafs, who lost for the first time in 19 games.

Barrie Baycats 8, Guelph Royals 0
In Guelph, Jordan Neufeld pitched seven shutout innings to back the Barrie Baycats to an 8-0 win over the Guelph Royals. Barrie took a 2-1 lead in the series and hosts Game 4 on Thursday.
Neufeld (2-0) struck out seven batters and allowed three hits in the win and Casey Virtue allowed two hits in the final two innings to preserve the shutout.
Toby Legace singled, doubled and tripled and drove in a pair of runs and Jordan Lundberg homered for Barrie.
Meleti Melehes (1-1) allowed seven runs - six earned - and seven hits in a four-inning start.
