IBL Playoff Update - Thursday August 11
Barrie Baycats 8, Guelph Royals 5
In Barrie, Toby Legace had a pair of hits, including a double and drove in the winning run with a two-out single in the third inning to help the Barrie Baycats to an 8-5 win over the Guelph Royals in the Intercounty Baseball League playoffs on Thursday.
The Baycats lead the series 3-1 and are one win away from their first appearance in the IBL Championship Series. Game 4 is Saturday in Guelph.
Jonathan Baksh and Ryan Davis each added two hits and an RBI in the win.
Chris England (1-0) allowed three runs and four hits in seven innings for the win and Cam Newitt recorded the final four outs for the save.
Guelph starter Rylan Pranger (1-1) allowed six runs - four earned - and seven hits in 2 2/3 innings.
Kevin Hinton homered and scored two runs and Joel Lynch was two-for-five with a double for Guelph.
