IBL Playoff Update - Friday August 12
Toronto Maple Leafs 12, Kitchener Panthers 4
In Kitchener, Jeremy Walker had three hits and drove in six runs to pace the Toronto Maple Leafs to a 12-4 win over the Kitchener Panthers in the Intercounty Baseball League playoffs on Friday. Toronto leads the series 3-1 and can clinch a berth in the IBL Championship Series with a win in Game 5 on Sunday at Christie Pits.
Walker hit a three-run homer in the fifth inning to put the Leafs ahead for good. Joe Colameco had a three-run homer while Shayne Ridley and Carl Embro added solo shots. Matt Logan had three hits and Gamin Teague was four-for-five in the win.
Paul Spoljaric (4-0) went the distance for Toronto, allowing four runs and nine hits while striking out seven batters.
Brad Hay (1-1) gave up eight runs and 10 hits in 4 1/3 innings.
Luke Baker hit a solo homer in the sixth inning and Harpreet Padda added a three-run blast in the seventh for Kitchener.
