IBL Playoff Update - Saturday August 20
Barrie Baycats 3, Toronto Maple Leafs 2
In Barrie, Jared McCord singled home the winning run with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning to lift the Barrie Baycats to a 3-2 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs in the Intercounty Baseball League Championship Series on Saturday.
McCord and Ryan Spataro each had two hits in the win that tied the series at one game each with Game 3 scheduled for Sunday at Christie Pits in Toronto.
Barrie held a 1-0 lead heading into the ninth inning before Gamin Teague belted a two-run homer for Toronto. Joe Colameco added three hits for the Maple Leafs.
Brad Bissell (1-1) went the distance for Barrie, giving up two runs on eight hits while striking out 13 batters.
Doug Dimma (0-1) took the loss in relief of starter Dave Steffler, who allowed one unearned run and four hits in 6 1/3 innings.
