Barrie Baycats win the 2005 IBL Championship
Barrie Baycats 6, Toronto Maple Leafs 3
In Barrie, Jordan Lundberg doubled in the winning run in the eighth inning to help the Barrie Baycats double the Toronto Maple Leafs 6-3 to win the Intercounty Baseball League Championship Series in six games.
Lundberg, the IBL's playoff MVP, brought in David Latour for the game-winner. Latour had a pair of hits and Alex Borgo homered for Barrie.
Angus Roy (5-1) tossed his second complete game of the series, allowing three runs and nine hits while striking out five batters and walking four.
After finishing third in the regular season with a 21-15 record, the Baycats won their first IBL championship after defeating the London Majors and two-time defending champion Guelph Royals on their way to the IBL Championship Series.
Paul Spoljaric (5-2) also pitched his second complete game of the series, giving up six runs and nine hits while striking out six batters and walking one.
Gamin Teague had a pair of hits, including a homer for Toronto.
