Maple Leafs Extend Lead Over Royals

Toronto starter Chris Rauth went seven strong innings as the Maple Leafs won their 12th in a row and upped their lead on the second-place Royals to three and a half games. Rauth gave up two earned runs, struck out five and walked three. His only real mistake was a two-run home run off the bat of Jason Borghese, his first of the year. Rich Butler led the Toronto attack with three hits while brother Rob added a solo home run in the seventh inning � he now has eight on the season and leads the league in that department. Charlie Graheck also had a solo home run (2), his coming in the fourth inning. 250 fans turned out at Hastings Stadium in Guelph for tonight�s game.

Baycats Hold Off Late Dodgers Charge

The Baycats survived a late Dodgers rally and held on for the 4-2 victory. The win snaps Barrie�s two-game losing streak and moves them a half game up on Hamilton in the battle for third place. Brad Grievison tossed a complete-game four-hitter with ten strikeouts and two walks to earn the win. His only mistake was a two-run home run off the bat of Oshawa�s Ken Calway in the bottom of the ninth inning. Ryan Davis led the Baycats attack with three hits, including a double, and a pair of free passes. Andy Sorochan went one for four with two RBI�s and Cory Torchan added a hit and one RBI. Adam Clarke took the loss after allowing two earned runs on ten hits over seven innings. He struck out seven and walked three.
