Barrie Baycats 3, Toronto Maple Leafs 2

In Barrie, Alex Borgo had a pair of hits, including a game-tying home run in the sixth inning to help the Baycats to a 3-2 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs in the Intercounty Baseball League on Saturday.

David Latour walked and then scored the winning run in the eighth inning.

Cam Newitt (1-1) picked up the win after allowing just one hit in two scoreless innings of relief after starter Derek McDaid allowed two runs and four hits in seven innings.

Mike Lynch (1-1) allowed three runs - two earned - and six hits in 7 1/3 innings and Jeremy Walker had a two-run homer in the second inning.

Guelph Royals 8, Stratford Nationals 6

In Guelph, Sean Reilly drove in the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning to push the Royals to an 8-6 win over the Stratford Nationals.

Joel Lynch and Mike Alati both had two hits and drove in a run in the win.

Paul Bruder (1-0) allowed two hits in three scoreless innings of relief for starter Brian Dikdan, who gave up six runs - five earned - and six hits in five innings of work. Aaron Little closed out the game with an inning of relief for his second save.

Joe Laderoute (0-1) took the loss after surrendering one run in 1 1/3 innings of relief. Starter Ryan Bartley gave up six runs - three earned - and five hits in 4 2/3 innings.

Justin Pennel had three hits, including a triple, and Will Richards belted a two-run homer.

In Brantford, Jason Gotwalt doubled and drove in two runs to help the Red Sox to a 7-6 win over the Oshawa Dodgers in the first half of a doubleheader.

Chris Becker, Tyler Burnell and Al Stevens all had two hits in the win.

Ryan Brickman (1-0) picked up the win after allowing one run and two hits in 2 2/3 innings after starter Brad Hogeterp gave up five runs in 4 1/3 innings.

Adam Garner (1-3) allowed seven runs - five earned - and nine hits in 6 2/3 innings.

Ryan Crotin had three hits including a home run in the loss.

Brad McConnachie had three hits and scored the winning run to give the Dodgers an 8-1 win in eight innings in the second game.

Brett Prosper doubled and drive in three runs and Matt Tosoni (1-0) picked up the win after allowing one run and five hits in eight innings.

Mark Ferguson (2-1) took the loss after surrendering seven runs in one inning of relief after starter Stefan Strecker held the Dodgers to one run in seven innings.
