Two Big Innings Lead Maple Leafs Over Tigers

The Maple Leafs only counted in two innings, but scored three times in the first and six more times in the sixth to earn their thirteenth straight win. Rob Butler again had the big bat for Toronto, slugging his league-leading ninth homer, a two-run shot. Butler finished the night with four hits, and was helped out by Mike Grieve who had a two-run home run of his own. Jason Corrigale chipped in with two hits and two RBI�s. Tim Goheen (1-1) went seven innings to earn the win. He gave up one run on six hits, struck out eight and walked one. Waterloo starter Pat Hill took the loss and was charged with eight earned runs on ten hits in five and two-thirds innings. Mike Smith led the Tigers attack with two hits and a pair of RBI�s. Mike Robertson added two hits for Waterloo, now 3 and 12 on the season.

Red Sox Lose Heartbreaker To Visiting Majors

London scored twice on two Brantford errors in the top of the ninth inning to edge the Red Sox 4-3. The win moves the Majors into a sixth-place tie with idle Kitchener while the Red Sox drop into a tie for eighth. Joe Wollscheid led London with four hits with Rowan Lam adding two hits and an RBI. Jared Franke (1-2) earned the win in relief with three and two-thirds scroreless innings. He gave up just one hit while striking out three and walking four. Brantford reliever Dale Marsden (0-3) was the hard-luck loser. He was charged with two unearned runs on three hits in two innings, walking two and striking out one. Steve Charles had two doubles to lead the Red Sox while Tyson Morgan added a triple.
