Storm Win Fourth Straight With Big Eleventh Inning

The Storm rallied with five runs in the top of the eleventh inning to down the Royals 6-1. With the win St. Thomas pulls into a third-place tie with Hamilton and Barrie. Shawn Spellar (3-2) earned the win in relief with two hitless and scoreless innings. Starter Tom Vankastern was very sharp and gave up just an unearned run on three hits in eight innings of work. Darby Parsons led the winners at the plate with three hits and a pair of RBI�s. For Guelph Duane Fagel (0-1) took the loss after surrendering four runs on five hits in just a third of an inning. Starter Mel Melehes went ten innings and allowed only one earned run on three hits. He struck out twelve and walked two.

Wollscheid Leads Majors Over Baycats

Joe Wollscheid (2-2) threw a complete-game four-hitter to win a great pitcher�s duel this afternoon in Barrie. Wollscheid fanned six Baycats as the Majors picked up their sixth win of the season. Barrie starter Cam Newitt (1-4) took the loss despite a solid complete-game effort of his own. He allowed two earned and struck out nine. Wollscheid helped out his own cause with two hits and a run while Chuck Roberts went two for three with an RBI for London.

Barrie starter Brad Grieveson and London�s Andy Broughton provided another outstanding pitching duel in the tail end of this afternoon�s doubleheader. Grieveson (3-0) struck out eleven over six innings to earn the win while Angus Roy came on to strike out two of the three batters he faced in the seventh inning. David Latour led the Baycats attack with two hits and an RBI. Chuck Robers led London with two hits, including a double. Broughton (2-2) allowed two earned runs on four hits and struck out three.

Red Sox Score Edge Dodgers With Late-Game Heroics

The Red Sox scored four times in the bottom of the seventh inning to pull off a dramatic 5-4 victory in game one of a doubleheader in Brantford this afternoon. Scott Hughes was batting .164 coming into the game, but his three-run home run (1) proved to be the difference. Raul Borjas helped out by scoring two runs and getting a pair of singles while Tyson Morgan had two singles and scored once. Brett Gibson (2-2) earned the win with a complete-game effort. He struck out five and walked two. Oshawa�s Nat Osborne took the loss, allowing five earned runs on nine hits over seven innings. Pat Tobin led the Dodgers with a double and two RBI�s while Darryl Reid added a solo home run (3).

For the second straight game the Red Sox downed the Dodgers thanks to a last-inning comeback. Raul Borjas� RBI single in the bottom of the seventh gave Brantford the sweep and moved them to within a half game of seventh-place Kitchener. Borjas also had a double while Dan Baribeau added a three-run home run in the sixth inning. Dale Marsden (1-2) picked up the win with an inning of relief work and gave up a run on two hits. Jamaal Joseph (0-1) took the loss after giving up an earned run on three hits in one inning. Brad Hannah led Oshawa offensively with three singles.
