IBL mourns the loss of Troy May
The Intercounty Baseball League regrettably informs of the passing of Oshawa Dodgers' Owner Troy May on Wednesday.
May, 39, succumbed to injuries sustained in an automobile accident this past weekend.
"The entire Intercounty Baseball League family is saddened by today's news," said IBL Commissioner Jim Rooney. "Troy was very passionate about baseball and his vision was an important ingredient in the success of the Oshawa Dodgers and the IBL. We pass along our deepest condolences to Troy's family and join in their grief for the loss of a good friend."
May founded the Oshawa Dodgers in 2002. He was the field manager for the team during its first four years before stepping down to become the third base coach this year. May was also an active member of the IBL board and committees and was president of Oshawa Minor Baseball.
May coached baseball for more than 20 years, winning more than 600 games. He guided the Oshawa Junior Legionnaires for nine seasons, including 1999 when they won the Junior Elimination Tournament and became the first junior team in Oshawa's history to go the Canadian National Championships.
