Panthers Go Deep Eight Times In 23-6 Win Over Tigers

Kitchener avenged it�s loss to Waterloo earlier this week in a big way pounding out a total of 23 runs on 22 hits, eight of which were home runs. Jeff Pietraszko, Mark Johnston and Brian Carter had two round-trippers each while Andy Pietraszko and Joel Scott added one each. Carter had a huge night with a grand slam home run in the sixth, and he finished with seven RBI�s. Jeff Pietraszko went 4 for 4 with two walks and 4 RBI�s and Kitchener hit leadoff home runs in the second, third and fourth innings. Derek King ( 1-0) earned the win, giving up two earned runs on five hits over five innings. The Panthers have scored 42 runs in their last two games, both victories.
Brett Lawson (0-1) took the loss for Waterloo, allowing six earned runs on five hits in two-plus innings. Ted-Drew Smith got the Tigers off to a great start with a leadoff homer in the first inning. He went 2 for 4 while Rob Dinwoodie was 2 for 5 and scored a pair of runs.
Cardinals Outscore Storm Despite Being Outhit

The Storm outhit the Cardinals 20-16 but left 13 men stranded and it cost them as Hamilton went on to the 12-11 victory. Sean Reilly led the Cardinals with three singles, a home run (3) and four RBI�s. Andy Steeds added three singles and two RBI�s, and R.J. Lambert had three singles and one RBI. Bill Lawrence (2-2) earned the win, but did allow ten earned runs on sixteen hits over five and a third. Hamilton moves into sole possession of third place with the victory.
St. Thomas went deep three times in the game. Bob Grant (1), Jason Head (5) and Andrew Mercier (1) each hit a home run. Rick Ross led the Strom though with three singles and three RBI�s. Grant added three singles and had a pair of RBI�s while Mercier also had a double. Tom Vankastern (0-2) took the loss, giving up seven earned runs on thirteen hits in six and two-thirds innings.

Toronto starter Tim Goheen upped his record to 2 and 1 with eight strong innings against Barrie tonight. Goheen struck out five, and gave up an unearned run on three hits. Dave Hatch came on to toss a scoreless ninth inning. Rob Butler led the Maple Leafs going 4 for 5 with two runs and an RBI while Jason Corrigale went 3 for 4.
Cam Newitt (1-5) took the loss, allowing two earned runs on twelve hits over five innings. Jeremy Ulyenbroek led Barrie at the plate with a double and a run scored.
