Panthers Go Deep Seven Times, Win Their Fifth In A Row

No one will ever call the Kitchener Panthers boring. They spotted the visiting Storm a 5-0 lead, led 9-5 after five innings, then were tied with St. Thomas at twelve after eight and a half innings of play. But the Panthers exploded for eleven runs in the bottom of the inning to earn the 23-12 win and sole possession of fifth place. Kitchener hit seven home runs on the night and were led by Mark Johnston who went 6 for 6 with two homers (6,7) two doubles and five RBI�s. Randy Curran was 3 for 4 with a pair of walks, a home run (7), 3 RBI�s and he scored five times. The other home runs were hit by: a three-run shot by Jeff McDonald (3), a 2-run home run by Luke Baker (4), Andy Pietraszko�s 3-run shot (3) and Joel Scott�s solo blast (4). Adam Hornastaj tossed the final two innings to earn the win (3-2). He allowed just one hit while striking out one. Brad Hagedorn made his first appearance of the season in a starting role. He gave up four earned runs on six hits in three innings of work.
St. Thomas starter and loser Pete Babcock (1-1) took the loss, allowing fourteen earned runs on seventeen hits over seven and a third. He struck out four and walked four. Jason Head led the Storm at the plate with three hits including two home runs (6,7), and he finished the night with four RBI�s. Jamie Gosselin added a home run (1), two singles and three RBI�s.
Kitchener scored 11 runs in the eighth on seven hits and five St. Thomas errors. The Panthers have scored 65 times during their five game win streak.

Barrie scored four times in the sixth inning and went on to down visiting Oshawa 4-1. Angus Roy threw a complete-game gem for the Baycats and in doing so improved his record to 5 and 2. He struck out nine batters and the only run he gave up was unearned. Roy now leads the league in strikeouts with sixty-seven, seven up on Toronto�s Paul Spoljaric. Andy Sorochan led the Barrie attack with a double, single and two RBI�s. Jared McCord added a triple and a single. Both players also scored a run.
Oshawa starter Adam Clarke pitched well, but took the loss to drop to 0 and 6. He allowed three earned runs while striking out four in a complete-game effort. Darryl Reid led the Dodgers at the plate with two hits, and their only run was scored by Kael Racioppa on a Barrie error.
