The Tigers let a 6-2 lead after eight complete slip away tonight as the visiting Cardinals scored five times in the top of the ninth to pull off the 7-6 victory. Ishmael Cox led the Hamilton attack with two hits and two RBI�s while Andy Steeds added one hit and a pair of RBI�s. Craig Hawkins (3-0) earned the win with an inning and two-thirds of relief. He allowed one run on three hits while striking out three. Cardinals starter Jason Pilkington gave up five runs on five hits in seven and a third.
Rob Dinwoodie took the loss, giving up three runs in the ninth inning on three hits and a walk. Dinwoodie did have a good night at the plate with a hit and two RBI�s. John Hanko added two hits including a double, and Greg Stefan had a hit and a pair of RBI�s. Waterloo starter Pat Hill went six and two-thirds and allowed two runs on two hits while striking out six and walking three.
Waterloo could have pulled into within a game of seventh-pace London with a win, but now leads ninth-place Brantford by half a game.

Guelph downed London 9-1 at Labatt Park to earn their sixth win in a row and that makes them the hottest team in Inter-County Major baseball. Royals starter Mel Melehes was put on a dominating performance for seven innings to earn the win (3-0). He gave up one earned run on seven hits while striking out twelve and walking one. Duane Fagel came on for the eighth and ninth and allowed just one hit. Trevor Churchill led the attack with three hits and three RBI�s while Chris Becker added three hits, including his seventh home run, and three RBI�s. Jason Borghese had a home run (3) and a single with two RBI�s.
For London Chuck Roberts went 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI while Tim Hinchliffe was 2 for 5 with his ninth and tenth stolen bases of the season. Shaun Peet (2-1) suffered the loss, allowing eight earned runs on fourteen hits. He struck out three and walked four.
