Ogborne Blanks Storm With Three-Hitter

Nat Ogborne (1-1) threw a complete-game three-hitter to lead the visiting Dodgers past the Storm in game one of a doubleheader Sunday afternoon. Ogborne struck out three and walked three and allowed only three singles as Oshawa won their sixth game of the season. Graig Andrew led the Dodgers with a double and two RBI�s while Al Stephens chipped in with a double, single and one RBI. For St. Thomas Pete Babcock, Andrew Mercier and Darby Parsons could muster the only hits against Ogborne. Kris Kewley took the loss, giving up five earned runs on seven hits in five innings. He struck out two and also walked a pair.

Dodgers Complete Sweep, Move Into Playoff Contention

The Dodgers now trail seventh-place Waterloo by two and a half games and still have a chance to make the post-season. Darryl Jennings threw a complete-game eight-hitter to lead Oshawa to a 7-3 win in the second game of a doubleheader in St. Thomas. He struck out five and walked three as the Dodgers improved to 7 and 19 in their inaugural season. Ryan Crotin led the attack with a home run, single and three RBI�s. Ken Calway added a double, single and three RBI�s while Pat Tobin chipped in with three hits and an RBI. For St. Thomas Jamie Gosselin had a double, single and two RBI�s while Tyler Stevenson added two singles and an RBI. Storm starter Pete Babcock took the loss, giving up seven earned runs on ten hits in five and a third innings.

Spoljaric Remains Undefeated As Leafs Down Baycats

Paul Spoljaric improved to 4-0 with six strong innings against the slumping Baycats at Connorvale Park Sunday afternoon. He gave up an unearned run on two hits while striking out twelve and walking just one. Spoljaric now has 72 strikeouts and just 9 walks on the season. Rich Butler, Mike Asselin, Kevin Foley and Jason Trimm had two hits each for Toronto. Butler and Asselin also chipped in with 2 RBI doubles, Butler�s in the eighth and Asselin�s in the third. Ryan Johns started for the Baycats but was hit by a pitch and knocked out of the game after two and a third innings. He gave two earned runs on one hit while walking two. Barrie pitching walked a total of 15 batters in the game. Barrie has now lost three in a row and have fallen to the .500 mark. The Maple Leafs now move back to Christie Pits for their next home game on Wednesday as they host Hamilton at 7:30.

Tigers Win Third Straight, 7-3 Over Visiting Royals

Waterloo continues to battle for a playoff spot, and this afternoon�s win over second-place Guelph will help their chances. Mike Curphey went the distance to earn, allowing three runs on eleven hits while striking out three and walking two. The Tigers also had a balanced offensive attack led by Rob Dinwoodie and Jason Hoch who had a hit and two RBI�s each. M.D. Smith had a triple, single and one RBI with Jason Herbert adding two hits. For Guelph Kevin Hinton had two hits including his third home run of the season. Chris Becker added two hits and two RBI�s. Mike Didier took the loss, giving up five runs on seven hits over six innings. He struck out eight and walked five. Waterloo now leads eight-place Brantford by half a game in the race for the final playoff position.
