The Brantford win coupled with Waterloo�s loss Tuesday night means the Red Sox have a half-game lead over the Tigers for the final playoff spot. Brantford exploded for nine runs in the second inning, seven coming off Guelph starter and loser Casey Cooper. Dan Baribeau did most of the damage for the visitors going 4 for 5 with a solo home run (3) and four RBI�s. Scott Hughes added three hits for the winners. Brett Gibson earned the win, allowing four earned runs on four hits through six innings.
Cooper gave up seven earned runs on ten hits in an inning and two-thirds. Kevin Hinton, who recently hit his 500th career Intercounty Major hit, stroked a two-run home run for Guelph. Kevin Treichel scored three times and had a hit. The loss for the Royals was their second straight while the Red Sox have now won three in a row.

Andy Sorochan�s two-run single in the bottom of the eighth inning gave the Baycats a much-needed win Tuesday night. Cory Turchan tied the game with a solo home run in the sixth as Barrie moved a game above the .500 mark and snapped a three-game losing streak. Brad Grievison went the distance to earn the win, and struck out 13 along the way. He allowed one earned run and only walked one.
Waterloo, who had a three-game win streak snapped, dropped to 3 and 12 on the road. Tigers starter Adam Beck took the loss, allowing four earned runs in seven-plus innings.
