Majors Victory Makes Race For Final Playoff Spot Tighter

London jumped ahead of Waterloo into eighth place, just a half game back of Brantford who hold down the seventh and final playoff position. The Majors trailed 5-4 heading into the bottom of the eighth but scored three times to go on to the 7-6 victory. Waterloo did score once in the top of the ninth, but reliever Kevin Vitrue came on with no one out and the bases loaded and struck out the side to earn his first save of the season.
Jay Greaves led the London offense going 4 for 4 with two doubles, a stolen base and an RBI. Rowan Lam added three hits and three RBI�s while Chad McKellar was 2 for 5 with a home run, his second of the campaign. Yoel Fernandez picked up the win (1-4) with two and a third innings of relief. He gave up an earned run on four hits while striking out four.
Waterloo reliever Scott Ballantyne took the loss (1-2) after giving up four runs on six hits in two innings. Tigers starter Tyler Wright left the game after the fifth inning with a 2-1 lead. Rob Thiel went 3 for 4 with an RBI to lead the Waterloo attack. Jason Hoch added two hits and an RBI.
