Royals Finish Regular Season With Loss To Maple Leafs

The Royals end the regular season on a losing note but do finish in second place while the first place Maple Leafs remain unbeaten at home this season. Four Toronto hits and two costly Guelph errors led to a six-run sixth for the Maple Leafs. Sean Travers delivered the big blow, a three-run home run, while Jason Corrigale, Mike Asselin and Carl Embro had RBI singles. Chris Rauth earned the win with five innings of relief. He gave up two earned runs on seven hits while striking out two and walking two.
For Guelph Matt Spatafora had three hits and Nathan Grant two. Brian Dikdan took the loss, allowing seven runs on seven hits in three innings of relief.
Toronto receives a first-round bye while Guelph will take on either Brantford or Oshawa in a quarter-final series.
Red Sox Hammer Tigers To Keep Playoff Hopes Alive

The Tigers saw their playoff lives end thanks to a rain-shortened 21-7 loss to the visiting Red Sox. Brantford still has a shot at making the post-season as they battle the Oshawa Dodgers for seventh place. Raul Borjas led the winners with four hits, a sacrifice fly and three RBI�s. Steve Charles added three hits including a home run and three RBI�s while Ryan Lane chipped in with three hits and two RBI�s. Stefan Strecker picked up the win, giving up two runs on six hits in six innings. He struck out five and walked none.
For Waterloo John Hanko led the way with three hits and an RBI. Mike Curphey surrendered ten runs on twelve hits and took the loss. He struck out three and walked one over five innings of work.
Dodgers Loss Evens Race For Final Playoff Position

The Panthers moved a step closer to clinching fourth place, and the Dodgers are now tied with Brantford for the seventh and final playoff position. Kitchener is a full game up on Barrie, who will be their first round opponent. Both teams have two games remaining in their regular season schedules. The Dodgers are in Waterloo Monday night while the Red Sox host Toronto on Thursday.
Kitchener went deep four times in the game as they came back from a 4-1 deficit. Jeff Pietraszko led the attack with three hits including two home runs, a two-run shot in the sixth and a solo blast in the eighth. He also scored three times, walked once, had a sacrifice fly and knocked in four runs. Andy Pietraszko went two for four with a home run, single and four RBI�s. Jeff McDonald and Luke Baker added solo home runs for the winners. Brad Hagedorn tossed the win with a complete-game effort. He struck out ten and walked four.
Oshawa starter Ryan Fraser took the loss, giving up seven earned runs on nine hits while striking out two and walking nine in seven innings of work. Darryl Reid led the Dodgers with a triple and a single while Brad Hanna added two hits, including a solo home run in the seventh. Hanna had three RBI�s in the contest.
