Barrie gave high-powered Kitchener a taste if its own offensive medicine Saturday afternoon and outscored the visiting Panthers 11-4 in game one of their best of five quarter-final series. Liam O�Brien�s three-run home run in the fourth inning got the Baycats on the board, and they followed that with a three-run sixth and a five-run eighth. Ian Prescott went 3 for 4 with an RBI while Jared McCord added two hits and three RBI�s. Ryan Davis chipped in with two hits and a pair of RBI�s. Brad Grievison earned the win and gave up all four Panthers runs in the sixth inning. He allowed five hits while striking out thirteen. Angus Roy came on to throw two innings of shutout relief with three strikeouts. Kitchener starter Brad Hagedorn was chased after giving up eight runs, although only two were earned, on eleven hits. He stuck out seven in seven a third innings. Luke Baker led the Panthers attack with two hits while Brian Carter stroked a two-RBI double.

Guelph starter Ryan Armstrong was just a little better than Oshawa�s Nat Ogborne as the Royals took game one of the series 5-3 on Saturday night. Armstrong threw a complete-game six-hitter, an effort that included thirteen strikeouts. He gave up three earned runs on six hits and walked four. At the plate Guelph was led by Trevor Churchill who went 2 for 3 and Kevin Treichel who was 2 for 4. Ogborne allowed three earned runs on seven hits over eight innings. He struck out four and walked four. Darryl Reid paced the Dodgers attack with two hits and two RBI�s while Al Stephens added a pair of hits.

Ridley and Reilly Lead Cardinals To 8-4 Win Over Storm

Hamilton has taken a 2-0 lead over St. Thomas with Saturday night�s 8-4 victory, and the Cardinals have a chance to complete the sweep Sunday afternoon at home. Shayne Ridley led the winners with a home run, single and a pair of RBI�s while Sean Reilly had two singles and two RBI�s. Jeff Martin added an RBI-double with Tom Robertson chipping in two singles and an RBI. Hamilton starter Pat Lynch earned the win with seven innings of work. He gave up three earned runs on seven hits while striking out five. Storm starter Tom Vankastern took the loss giving up six earned runs on seven hits in six innings. He struck out four and walked four. Andrew Mercier led St. Thomas at the plate with two singles and two RBI�s. Jason Head added three hits and an RBI with Darby Parsons picking up an RBI single.
