The Barrie Baycats have moved into the Intercounty semi-final round in just their second year in the league after a dramatic come from behind victory in Kitchener. Liam OBrien stroked a two-run home run on a full count with two outs in the top of the ninth to give the Baycats the win. His homer scored Ryan Davis who led started the inning with a single and moved to second on an Andy Sorochan sacrifice bunt. Kitcheners Craig Stroh led off the bottom of the ninth with a walk, but Barrie hurler Angus Roy struck out the next two batters he faced. Brian Carter followed with a single and Roy intentionally walked Randy Curran to load the bases, and get to Mark Johnston. Roy won the battle, striking out Johnston to end the game and put Barrie into the next round. Roy picked up the win in relief of starter Brad Bissell. He gave up an earned run over three innings while striking out six and walking two. Bissell went six innings, gave up three earned runs, struck out seven and walked three. OBrien added a pair of singles for the Baycats while Sean OBrien went 4 for 4, scored a run and added an RBI. Ian Prescott belted a two-run home run in the fourth, and wound up with three RBIs. Davis had three singles and scored the winning run. Kitchener reliever Brad Hagedorn took the loss, giving up two runs on a pair of hits in an inning and a third. Starter Joel Scott was tagged for four earned runs on twelve hits in seven and two-thirds innings. Jeff Pietraszko led the Panthers attack with a solo home run in the fifth. Brian Carter went 3 for 5 with a double and two singles. Barrie will face Toronto in the next round if Oshawa eliminates Guelph. If the Royals come back to win that series the Baycats will battle the Maple Leafs.
